Douglas Brammer

Two dates for your diary. 24th August and 9th September 2017.

Most of you will know about Douglas Brammer. If you don't then you should. He was a remarkable man in so many ways. Sadly no longer with us, he left his town with the most wonderful legacy of his sketches of Flushdyke and Ossett in times past. You will hear and see much more of Douglas over the next couple of weeks beginning with a five page article in the national Down Your Way magazine. Available on 24th August 2017 from local newsagents and elsewhere. Don't miss it.

In memory of his life there will be much much much more about Douglas on National Heritage Saturday, 9th September 2017, in the Town Hall, the Library and Holy Trinity Church where there will be displays of his sketches and THE BOOK LAUNCH “Sketches of Times Past Flushdyke and Ossett” by Douglas Morton Brammer. 68 pages containing almost all of his sketches in full colour, plus maps, black and white photographs and historical narratives of places long gone. All for £8.95 with proceeds to charitable causes. Many of his sketches were of Ossett in the 1940's and fittiingly the "Love 1940's Ossett" event takes place in Ossett on the same day. 9th September 2017. Make a note in your diary. This is once in a lifetime Saturday. Do not miss it.
